Individual tattoos are ever growing in popularity. More and more of us are now turning a blind eye to the tattoo designs we see on the tattoo studios walls. The main reason being that we don't want to share a tattoo with hundreds of other people, but instead sport a meaningful design idea of our own.

Art ART ART more and more Tattoos are more like Paintings the days of Flash Sheets dominating the Tattoo world is over.. its not just color between the lines a good Art education is now a must... Rand and Cherry Creek is a great place to start for Ideas as is many others like Judy Parker and 100s of others but in today's Tattoo world one must be able to create one of a kind pieces or reproduce Art on a greater scale than what Flash Art allows..

ok im not a tattoo artist im not even a scratcher im a shop grl so im not gona pretend that i know everything. i know i still have alot to learn but i have to agree that the days of flash domination are over.... while many people in our shop draw insperation from the flash we have most dont get it they take the consept and have a sick one of a kind tattoo. im not tryn to say that theres not some beautiful flash but more and more people are getting tats as a momorium to an event in their lives and you just cant find that in a stack of flash

I think it is good that individual custom designs are growing and I agree with all of the comments posted here so far.
For customers who are looking for a one-off design, having it customised or personalised is with no doubt the best way to go. It all comes down to the skill level of the artist and his/her ability to meet that customers taste.
On the other hand, flash is there for the other type of customer who does'nt care about who already has it but just wants it done to look cool. They will most probably regret their decision ten or twenty years later but thats how it is.
I like Cherry Creek and the artists who submitted their designs are just amazing and have inspired me in my own work. Having seen most of the Cherry Creek flash for over 13 years I think it needs a new wardrobe from cartoony to more realistic. However from a business point of view its style has brought fast turnovers.
There are some great artists out there and the tattooing industry still needs flash not only for decorating parlour walls but also for references to different styles, inspiration for other artists and for customers to see creative changes and trends from around the world to help them make their customised decisions.
I also agree in having a good art education.

I believe it is superior that personal customized styles are developing and I concur with all in the comments posted right here so far.
For buyers who are searching for any one-off design, owning it customised or personalised is without any doubt the top method to go. It all arrives right down for the ability degree in the artist and his/her capability to satisfy that buyers taste.

The difference between the days of flash and the custom artwork now is you can see designs very easily from the internet... So many people come in with a design on their phone or printed up, but it happens to be someone else's custom design work. Kinda feels like there will always be the 'copy' instinct in a lot of clients but it's really to each their own.

Also there's more 'artists' than 'tattooists' emerging now. An artist's mindset is to create your own work, you don't want to copy exactly what someone else has done.

It's kind of a slow shift though as there are still many people that love flash work and incorporate a meaning into it for themselves, or just like the look.. vs. a lot of newer people to the industry where custom work is a must.

I am not a tattoo artist but an artist who would like to see his art as a tattoo. I have been an artist since I was 5 years old and have dabbed in line art, charcoal art and now I would like to venture into drawing tattoos for others. I have already drawn a few pieces for others and would like continue my work as not a tattooist but an artist that provides the art. I don't see myself as a tattoo artist that inks others but an artist who provides the art.

I agree that if someone is going to get a tattoo it should have some kind of meaning to the art, that way 10 to 20 years later they won't regret it. Like my dad, who got a small eagle tattoo on his upper shoulder when he was drunk and now he regrets ever getting it.

I have designed my own tattoo that I hope to get soon but only because it has personal meaning. I think Flashes are good but only to show the level of expertise an artist has in the art so, clients can decide whether or not the artist can design their tattoo. If a piece sells from the flash then that is just a plus.

Of course this is just my agreement and my opinion. I don't want to come off as knowing anything about tattooing.

yeah cherry creek is some decent flash but there are so many other artist with far better ideas the difference being commercialism any body with good technique can pull a pattern and fit it to a person but now a tattoo artist can fit the person to the tattoo so while all your flash artist out there and the ones with cherry creek are extremely talented dont compare them and undercut the ones with insight and imagination
