What is the diference between the wrap number on the coils. I've been tattooing for a short while and have been increasingly becoming very passionate about all aspects of tattooing and believe that having a thorough understanding of the machine will make me a better tattooist. The person who's teaching me told me that if I change the coils on the machine to get 10 wrap or 12 wrap but I didn't bother to ask why because I am begining to notice that his knowledge is sort of limited and I didn't want to come off as a wise ass. The thing is, I've noticed some nice, somewhat expensive machines having 8 wrap set for lining or shading. Is this a matter of preference, does the wrap affect the power of the machine and if so would you have to regulate the machine diferently and modarate the volt power as well. Thank you.

i was taught that 8 wrap coils is more for line work cause it will be steadier and less work on the machine...10 wrap good for shading and packin ink...as far as the 12 wrap coil alot of people have told me that you only need a machine that heavy for real thick tribal like when your using a 13plus needles so that the machines has power to drive the needle nice and easy...however i can be wrong everybody has diferent opinions

same of 6 warps machine (the good machine) work very well in Liner. Little weight same with Iron frame. exemple: 169Grms in Iron ! After others artists work with 12 warps same in Liner... diferent Feeling ! But 8 warps is a good value for Liner work. I am OK with Johny :)
good week !
