So, I'm a complete newbie and I'm unfamiliar with what limitations an artist might have in tattooing certain images. I would like to get a John James Aububon plate tattooed as a half sleeve. The particular plate is of the Great Blue Heron and as it's a bird done in a realistic style in a natural environment it has quite a bit of detail. For me, the detail is what makes the image and if this would not come through in the tattoo I would probably just scrap the idea and go a different direction.

So here it is. What kind of detail would be achievable? What would it end up looking like?

Who is tattooing it?
What is the budget?
Where is it going?
How seasoned is client?
B n g or colour?
I could do exact replica @ 12 inch or up and I mean all the scalesand soft cracks in the feet n legs ... but it would b very expensive and id need thy or back or ribs or possibly a upper arm THAT'S A POSSIBLY take a long time.... nd id only guarantee some details for 10 years not lifetime .. it would b a giant micro lol
