this is my best client. he got a full sleeve within 2 years time. he decided he wanted to get his wife tattooed on him without it being necessarily recognizeable. we took a picture he had of her and turned it into a murmaid. he also got a custom sea dragon to represent himself and to follow the whole pirate theme he has going. as we pieced it together it came together more and more.. this guy is not only my best client but one of my best friends. props to you chad!!!!

this piece is definately a change of the norm for me. haven't done a bold color piece in a while. i was excited to do this piece for this client because she wanted a memorial tattoo for her father without lettering which seems common in our shop. she let me run with the background some and allowed my color and shading suggestions. i even got to have some fun with white throughout all of the wings.

sometimes it doesn't take an elaborate , detailed piece to cover an old tattoo. especially if the piece being covered is small. this client came to me with an adidas symbol he wanted to cover. he brought me a design he found and after redrawing it, i knew it would work. i wanted to focus on thin lines with alot of color and shading. he was definately pleased due to the fact that the original tattoo cannot be seen at all.

this time it's personal!! my good friend and co-worker mike decided he waned to get this rose on his neck for his birthday this year. it made my day. his approach was to have it done realistically. we went as big as we could without making it look awkward. i love the placement and the way the outer leaves spread throughout his neck, especially up top where a leaf hides behind his ear.

i just got back from a trip in miami florida where i did a guest spot for 2 weeks and the coolest tattoo i did was this awsome portrait of this guys daughter and the tattoo takes up his whole left side of his chest. i think its my most accurate portrait yet.

yet another serious portrait challenge. i outlined this piece a few months ago and the client is just now able to get back in the chair with me. he started a nice shoulder piece with lettering of his 2 kids names and their portraits. this was our 3rd session and we have one more to go! lovin it.

this guy came to me with this idea of the last knight taking on a dragon that has completely scorched this castle. i took measurements with tracing paper and drew the piece out. i tried to concentrate on playing alot with shapes, either negative or positive, playing in and out of the forground.

this client chose a sacred heart design from one of those old school jesus christ candles you can get at the supermarket. i really wanted to approach the tattoo with that old school painterly feel. but at the same time, i wanted to create some contrast because the client had a fairly dark tone to her skin.

this client wanted to find an interesting way to incorporate his beliefs in the asian culture and scuba diving. two of his most cared for interests. so, he came to me with a rough drawing that basically looked like his tattoo. i like the composition alot with the way the shark sord of swims around the ying yang. i also find it interesting the way the ying yang and kanji are soemwhat tilted. it creates alot of interest to the eye.

this was this clients 1st tattoo. young kid, but a good artist. he drew the image himself. he wanted that classical feel yet some graphicness to it. i spent about 3 hours on it. we both loved the outcome.

this series of work was designed by myself and the client. he only likes black and grey work, mostly classic renaissance style tattoos.

this client is in the service and he wanted to go with a typical death before dishonor piece with a skull and flames. the banners were added to incorporate the lettering. the piece took about 4 hours.

this client came to me with the idea of the theater masks. laugh now, cry later!! but he didn't want to go with the same old design. he decided he wanted to use skulls. so i suggested doing an evil one and a god like one. i think the designs came out very original. he was definately satisfied.

this guy brought me a pic of his grandpa who had just passed away. i love doing them memorial tattoos. can't get anymore meaningful than that.

same guy who likes reneissance style tattoos. except this one he drew a graphic self portrait which is where the sleeve started. along with his own portrait, he brought me some pictures of some of his favorite authors and it just grew from there. the key with these tattoos where to keep them graphic and bold. i really liked his idea of keeping them in panels but we tried keeping the backgrounds sort of connected.

this piece i just resently did. it is a concrete version of the green man wall mask. this client and i have been friends a long time and this piece is an on going project based off of an abstract design we started a few years back. we wanted the green man to connect with the tribal abstract piece so we crossed over the background design so it ran under the green man piece. work still in progress.

this client wanted a portrait of his sister at a toddlers age. i think it's one of my best as far as capturing the facial expression. the client brought an excellent picture to work off of. he was very satisfied. and he said his sister was blown away. made me happy.

i find this piece quite interesting. not just the subject matter but its significance. this young lady's mom passed away at a very young age. and she did not get to meet her grandson. so jessica wanted to use a classic image of the mother mary holding baby jesus and super impose her moms face over marys and her sons face over the baby face of jesus. we were extremely limited in photo references especially for her moms face. i struggled so much drawing for this tattoo but we were both pleased with the outcome. even though we were limited, i felt the tattoo had enough resemblence of her son and mom. yes, i posted this still fresh in some parts but i know the grays will blend in nicely. even though its not fully healed, i'm sure it can be appreciated.

this piece has been so much fun to do. not only is it a portrait of a lotus flower, lettering weaves in and out of the top pedals creating an awsome transparency effect. still in progress though, have to color in the very middle of the lotus.

a woman and her husband came to see me about 3 weeks ago for a portrait of their 16 year old son who they recently lost about 6 months ago. they both wanted the same portrait. all i can say is that these folks most certainly appreciated not only the time spent in doing these tattoos for them, but the uncanny similarities between the two. they also chose opposite shoulders so that they can look at their son on each other. hers was done yesterday, his was done today.

this has been an ongoing piece for me. i have put in about 30 to 40 hours on it. after i posted it last, i wasn't completely happy with it so i decided to rework it. i added more black shading in the drapery of the dress for more contrast and i used white all over the figure for high lights. i put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this piece. i just hope its worth being featured now.

yey!!! this work in progress is finally finished. we took this flower straight from a photograph the client found. we incorporated the lettering to create depth and transparency. and the inner part was fully colored as it was in the photograph. the client and i were both really pleased.
ps. don't mind the wrinkles that the client has over the tattoo from her clothing that she got driving to the shop to take this pic!! lol

this client came in with the typical idea of razor wire as a band. we decided to incorporate smoke in the piece to create depth and overlapping of the razor wire. we ended up coming up with the concept of the wire being constraining but the smoke being the opposite hence the yin and yang theory.

this is another work in progress. this client is doing a memorial tattoo for her mom. she has a 4x4 red colored rose on the middle of her back with wings expanding out towards her shoulders. still in progress. the rose looks so good i had to post it. when the wings are complete i will repost it all.

this client came to me with a basic idea for this traditional cross with wings. her shoulder blades definately extended out and away from her shoulders so the placement of the tattoo was crucial. the very ends of the wing tips sat on the very edge of her shoulder blades wich made the tattoo placement very interesting. almost as if the wings come off of her shoulders. nice black and grey piece.

his client came in wanting alot of black tribal work. he started with a lizard on his right forarm and wanted to match it with a tribal shark on his left forarm. i suggested adding some waves around the shark to compliment it and he went for it. i did the waves freehand. he loved it!!
