I've recently retouched some of the black, therefor the difference in the tone on some spots which will even out soon.

Lotus tattoo made February, 2009.
The angle is a little bit strange, but I had to take the photo that way to cover as much of it as possible with just one shot. The colors are a bit detuned also as magenta seems to be difficult to capture with the camera I use.

The Fire Salamander is probably the most well-known salamander species in Europe. It is black with yellow spots or stripes to a varying degree; some specimens can be nearly completely black while on others the yellow is dominant. Shades of red and orange may sometimes appear, either replacing or mixing with the yellow according to subspecies. Fire Salamanders can have a very long lifespan. In the German natural history museum of Alexander Koenig a salamander lived more than 50 years. (wikipedia)

From 2001. I´ve categorized this one as a Japanese tattoo because it has kind of a Japanese theme (the bonsai and its "brushed" lines and the clouds which could at least be applied to a traditional Japanese tattoo), but obviously it´s not a Japanese tattoo in its strict sense.

I made these Orchids 2005. The whole thing about putting in white as the main color and the fineline style did not quite match her habit of being in the sun that much, so the tattoo had to be madeover with more shadings and bolder lines. Sad to say I dont have any good photo of the end result, but as soon as I do, I will upload it.

Also done with watercolor.
Koi are ornamental domesticated varieties of the common carp Cyprinus carpio, originated from China and widely spread in Japan. They are very closely related to goldfish, and in fact the style of breeding and ornamentation has become very similar, probably through the efforts of Japanese breeders to emulate goldfish, but they are not goldfish.
The word "koi" comes from Japanese. The original Japanese word koi simply means "carp," including both the dull grey fish and the brightly colored varieties. Nishikigoi, "brocaded carp", is a more specific term for the ornamental carp. (Wikipedia)

I made this tattoo on a southafrican guy the fall 2006. I tried the realistic approach with the shading of the scales "inverted" as opposed to the more common way to make them if you color the scales one by one. I thought, before meeting the guy in person that it was supposed to be bigger all the way down to the elbow but I was mistaken so we did the same tattoo, only smaller. It worked out just fine but all of us like them as big as possible dont we.

The humpback angler, Melanocetus johnsonii, is a black seadevil of the family Melanocetidae, found in tropical to temperate parts of all oceans at depths of up to 2,000 m. Its length is up to 3 cm for males and up to 20 cm for females.
Female humpback anglers have an enormous head dominated by a cavernous mouth full of long slender teeth that can fold backwards when prey is being swallowed. The belly is distensible and this, along with the huge gape of the mouth, allows them to swallow fishes up to twice their own length. Their eyes are small and covered by a thin layer of skin, and between them arises a large lure which is actually a modified first dorsal fin ray. (Wikipedia)
