totally out of character, but a client asked for me specifically to do traditional. this isn't what i normally do!
but i had tons of fun with it, and found that this simplistic style of tattooing can be very challenging.

well it is, but we wanted to go for an unfinished look. so much fun mixing these 2 styles.

i rarely do any japanese themed tattoos, but this one was just calling my name. i did it in my style, though, so i give respect to the traditional style by not trying to do it in the classic style. i wasn't taught the proper way, so why butcher centuries old traditions!
this is how it turned out. i am beyond stoked about it.

i did this one last month. a bit more neo-traditional than i usually venture, but i really do enjoy this style.

how you even reached that conclusion astounds me....

man was this one awesome. this girl (who is more or less too young to remember the bulk of it) is in love with hair metal and cock rock.
about 9 months ago i tattooed "kickstart my heart" in the center of her upper back. today i did the cover of metal health next to it. truly awesome, truly a fun piece.

AHHH, YES...cover ups. man, i love doing cover ups. here's another one i did today. actually i designed the tattoo and didn't even realize i had to do a cover up. not until she walked into the shop.
but i made it work, a little tweak and a color change here and there...VOILA!!

ah, a lovely piece to do. it mixes the best of both worlds with the new school heart and the softer style hummingbirds.
i did this at the atlantic city convention this past weekend, and had a blast doing so. great time, great people, great tattoos.
but i digress...check it out, have fun with it. i did.

this piece was definately fun. i toyed with the colors a bit, didn't do them straight up like i normally would have. all in all, i'm very pleased.

fun little thing to do. i went minimal with the outline and filled in the details with the color and shading. healed up very nicely too, which is always good to see with foot tattoos.

here's another one. homeboy did this in one sitting, 4 hours. i went through it pretty quick, but still. it's a large area. he was feeling rough by the end, but he hung tough.

another piece from my recent guest spot. this is the beginning of a sleeve which will symbolize the circle of life and futility of man. stay tuned for more.

an in progress shot of a wing. there will be far more added to this, and it will eventually be a half chest plate, half shoulder plate, half sleeve. interesting layout. and it goes onto his neck. i'll have more pics in about a month.

not always my deal, but still a style i would like to explore further. i used to love it, but my interest waned after a few years. then i had this project to work on. we weren't even going for biomechanical until about 5 minutes before i started.
as you can see, it ended up being a wise choice. now we're going to do the whole arm. i can't wait.

even more cover ups. did this on my guest spot at human production gallery in pittsburgh. nice little piece. i mixed in gray tones with all of the purple, and it gave it a cool color. just a little bit off kilter, you know?
there will be more to go on this, as soon as i make the final move out there.
yeah...

sorry there's a glare on top. this piece was a lot of fun to do. very happy with the results. there's not much to say except word. i love the tattoo, i loved doing it, and i can't wait to finish the half sleeve.

i covered homeboy's dead baby he had on his arm with a sort of cartoony version of skekung, the new emperor of the skeksis from the movie the dark crystal. SKEKUNG THE GARTHIM MASTER: YOU ROCK!! yet another reason i love cover-ups, and yet another happy customer.

cute lil guys with bow and arrows? how about vicious lil fat kids with vorpal blades. this tattoo underneath was old and haggard, but i covered it with the crazy light sources and all dat.

yeah, thought i lost the pics for this one. did this back about 6 months ago. had an alternate drawing (can't wait to do that one!) but we opted for full body rather than crazy close up head shot.
well, enjoy! another tim victim cover up.

after a few in progress posts, here is that willow tree i've been so eager to share with everybody.
grand total 7 hours, she sat like a champ. very happy with the results, and can't wait to do more trees on people.
i've done so many this year...

i love this tattoo. for those of you not from jersey, it's a thing to get a tattoo to rep your home state. (yeah, i have a jersey tattoo!) this was for state pride and national pride. i love the effect of the waving flag. it gave me an opportunity to do some nice blends and not have it be so flat.

this is the finished product of a recent back piece i did. i didn't do the "iskander" lettering over top of it. the entire piece actually only took about 8 hours. not bad, and i'm very pleased with the results.

gettin some color goin on. a lot of it is little to no outline, which i enjoy immensely, but as you can see i still rock out some good ol bold outline new school stuff when the situation calls for it.

Your cover up work is incredible. All of your work is GREAT, but some of the cover up work blows my mind...you get great color saturation even in areas that look like they would be impossible.
