PORTRAITS AND Realism
Alex de Pase is an Italian artist that grew up on a small island off the northeastern coast in a period during which tattooing was considered the prerogative of convicts. At 14, Alex was introduced to tattooing through a friend that learned the art in prison. This friend taught him the basics with a bic pen and home made needles. After that, Alex never stopped.

Although there was a lot of negativity associated with the tattoo world, Alex kept tattooing and sharpened his techniques, so that after more than 20 yeras he has become one of the most saught after tattoo artists around the world.

After pursuing different styles, he focused all of his attention toward realism and portraits, becoming one of the most important portraiture artists in tattooing. During these years Alex leraned that improving one¹s tattooing comes through practice and knowledge of art as well as traditional painting techniques.

Alex used to say, "Beyond the artistic skills, however, it is necessary to have a certain intellectual capacity to perceive colors, detail and atmosphere."
