Pat Sinatra's Tribal Art

Pat Sinatra's Tribal Art

Posted by PatSinatra on 3/11/2006
tribal has come to mean solid black and pointy. But Tribal is too broad a category. I like to add other geometrics and simple or primary colors.

Many years ago I was featured in a magazine that showcased some of the "Tribal" work I was doing. Soon that became my specialty. While I have a strong background in graphic arts, it certainly isn't all I do. It just adds to my particular handling of solid black work—I strive to make it clean, crisp and seamless. No fat outlines scarring the skin surface to hold that black edge.

I began tattooing in 1976. For me, tattooing was never a fad nor trendy but instead, an individual's expression of self. Women didn't tattoo then, nor did they get large visible tattoos. There were no suppliers listed in the yellow pages nor were there any tattoo magazines to skim through for ideas. Old School meant traditional and no one specialized in any particular style. You had to know how to tattoo whatever the customer wanted. And, that was usually something selected from the wall.
Shopping for a tattoo? Consider reputation, experience and an outstanding portfolio, because you deserve it. Or do you only deserve a bargain?. Remember, if it's free or cheap——in the end you'll pay!
